Issues With Inter-Community Marriages

Love marriages are considered to be easy but the problem arises when it is about intercommunity marriages. I belong to the staunch Tamil Brahmin family and my fiancé was from the Punjabi community. We were both classmates during our college days and in the last year of college he proposed me. I eagerly accepted the proposal unaware of the situation we both had to face to convince our families. After lot of coaxing, both families agreed for the wedding. On the D-day, the moment the groom reached my place he was ushered into a room to perform a pooja. After that the wedding invitation prayers was recited and the formal engagement ceremony was done and the auspicious time for the wedding was decided. The wedding hall was the center of attraction with the priests chanting the hymns loudly. It took nearly four hours for the marriage to be solemnized. It was a wonderful moment for both the families, and in the end I remember all the love decorative touches both families made to the wedding hall - from the cushion covers to the wedding dress - the details were perfect.
